Signalling obedience is how modern people tell other members of our preferred social group that: "I am an obedient instrument of my tribes authority, above all else" Put in collective terms:  signalling tells the tribe that we're willing slaves to its authority .  I signal my obedience because it works. I know that the better I can signal my obedience, the more likely I am to climb socially and economically in the tribe. This is the golden rule of obedience. There are no exceptions to obedience within a society *. All members of a tribe do it because it works. Just because you are super wealthy or powerful does not exempt you. You only got there because you have managed to signal obedience better than all the rest. We All Have a Theory. Which tells a very important truth. My theory is a story, an image, a narrative, a myth, a symbol.  That is OK. We tell this truth using a theory because using a theory protects us. The theory is always a metaphor, a myth, a symbol, an image. Sometimes a conspiracy theory. "So our theory is not literal truth?" No. But it does point to a truth - it signals, in a hidden way. For a rational reason. A myth is not a lie. It is a myth. With value. My theory has value yet is not a fact. Our theories can only be told in this way - through myth and symbol.  A theory, is a truth, which cannot be told in any other way. Our feelings say that to tell the truth directly puts us in danger. So we use a symbolic theory instead to say something very important and stay out of danger. "Why is telling a direct literal truth dangerous to me?" I'm going to tell you about a 'zero volt rebellion'. This is a metaphor for acting for the first time in civilised history to have an authentic dialogue on the world's great social problems. It's common to observe that every side politically is in an eternal battle for power and can only see the enemy as insane or evil. But a 'zero volt rebel' suggests that all sides are actually acting politically rationally because the technique used always works. Our world still has its 'exiles'. In the old days exiles were people who got deported or worse, for speaking out against the tribe. And in those distant and insecure times, that was probably right. It was a kind of capital punishment back then and for very good reason. But today in a world of untold abundance, these exiles should be treated like heroes because due to an enormous increase in productive power and human security, there's been a fundamental change. Yet these exiles are still being 'committed' for pointing at this change. Allow me to suggest how and why as follows. Let me put forward an idea that might be new to you. We'll call it 'obedience theory'. At its core, the theory explains how obedience serves as the main way people climb socially and economically. There is the Left versus Right thing - where politics seems to demand you are one or the other.  I have always said "both are wrong". And often get attacked more than if I feigned support for one of the other.  This is because a person being obedient to a tribe is honoured more by a competitive tribe than someone who shuns all tribes. Both left and right wing tribes automatically sense this heresy and treat you as the most dangerous kind of political actor, if you shun every tribe equally. And that thought is just telling us how things are.  Yet in making 'free' choices are we actually signalling obedience to the political tribe we have chosen to rule us and are unconscious of it?  Do not get drawn back into the unconscious and think: "well I'm somewhere in between, I do a little bit of obedience here and a little bit of autonomy there." If you see it, you see it.  If you do not see it, you do not see it. There is no in between. There is no learning process. It cannot be taught nor earned. Time cannot help you learn. This is a short piece to show how knowledge of things which are important to us psychologically can be seen immediately by intuition.
