Power is Held by the Collective of People Not a Person

Power is not held by persons, tyrants, presidents or other leaders. It is held by The People.

This is why it's easy for me as an individual citizen supporting Power to proceed in the knowledge I can can do so without problems. I know Power will protect me from justice no matter how bad the injustice I'm supporting.

Democracy cannot help here. Democracy will reinforce Power if that is what The People choose. Yes, democracy can help if The People choose justice. But The People have to choose justice already.

Democracy can't act or choose like a conscious entity. But The People can. Democracy is just an image or illusion subordinate to The People, who hold Power. An image which helps me to escape from my obligations on earth.

When I try to blame social problems on a leader, that is me escaping and relying on Power held by The People to help me get away with it. Evading my obligations in the world.

This problem of Power comes about because Power manifests as a proxy for the largest collective - the most attractive or cosy protecting tribe or cult known as The People. Not an individual citizen or a particular leader. Shattering the illusion that democracy is inherently good for me. Making it impossible for me to project the harm I'm complicit in, onto let us say, a President.

Power is The People. The People are a unified entity of One. My only true hope of escaping this observation is to travel to an alternative universe. In the hope The People there have yet to see unity and can still only see a paradoxical duality. An escape.

Power is The People. This is why sensible actions are often unable to overwhelm injustice. When The People on the whole - which is Power, have become systemically unjust. Of course! The People, holding tight onto Power, might not be seeking justice. But The People could do it in the morning if The People so choose. A choice. A hard one.

And Power is not inherently unjust. It is what The People make of Power. What will The People make of it this time...justice? Or do we prefer yet another escape to Mars.

What is the answer? Power cannot be safely wielded on earth. The People have to give up Power and return it to a higher order.
