Watch out for what happens with the advent of 'space volumes, plots and values'.
Much like land area, land plots and land values on the earth, space volumes, plots and values will eventually come into positive demand.
And there's a limited supply of valuable space plots. That is, there's a limit to the best plots which everyone wants most.
If Mr. Musk's space enterprise grows at the rate he promises, supply of these space plots will run out quickly.
So how does Mr Musk - nay, the market, determine which are the most valuable plots?
When something is valued highly yet is in limited supply, what happens to its price? It must rise.
So Mr. Musk and/or the market will decide based on the annual rental value of the plots of space volume - by how much rent that can be charged for their exclusive use.
The economic rent.
There is nothing in the least bit new about this development of political economy. The economic use of space and the distribution of the wealth that can be made there is no innovation.
When it comes to the economic rents and who gets them, nature commands, in space just as she does on the earth. Everything will play out identically as testified to by history.
For all wise investors out there, this is how you learn how to remember the future.
I don't think Mr. Musk will be building data centres in space. His tenants will be.
