Out walking with a good friend yesterday we spoke of the question of free speech, open borders and the protests.
It was not so much the attitude that she had long ago fallen for the UKs own 'very fine people hoax' which has hypnotised the people into believing that all protestors are far right thugs and rioters.
I was astonished that she said it was fine to say they were also criminals, as per the home office dictat, before having gone before a court and tried to see if they are guilty or not.
I asked her three times to be sure she meant it. And yes, "there are special cases where that principle no longer applies".
Habeas corpus forgone? Maybe not quite, but we're well on the way now.
The most infamous case of this loss of rights was seen at very high scale during the Soviet Red Terror were millions of it's own citizens were sent to eternity for having the temerity to ask for a fair trial.
Now, in the UK too. Sure, it's not happening at scale here yet. And with the first link, a chain is forged.
