social media media is neither good nor bad for us. it is what we make of it

Just like democracy. Just like civil rights. Just like free speech. All of these things are neither good nor bad for us. 

It all depends on what we as a collective of people and as individuals make of it. 

That is to say, if on the whole the collective of people, the great mass of people are virtuous and wise on the whole, then whatever it is we're talking about will tend towards the good. 

And if we are a selfish and ignorant people on the whole, then similarly what we make of these things will tend towards the bad. 

There is no exact science with which you can study this. All you can do is analyse it relatively to see if we are using or doing these things for the good or the bad as a nation or a collective of people. And we can make that estimate based on if we're doing it all with wisdom or ignorance.

And that is all we need to understand about it to be able to make a good assessment of it. 

So where do you think we are with all of these things  today? Have a careful think about it in a quiet moment and pray for thought to give you the truth about yourself.

This is extremely hard for people to accept as possible. The resistance to seeing it and the temptation to escape from looking, is built into its foundations.
