During a conversation with a friend he quoted Adam Smith to me in context but with out understanding.
I asked if he understood the central point and reason for Bitcoin's existence:
the protocol rules are only employed, AFTER, its been decided who will win?
Smith was only doing "my Lord's" bidding. He got a lot right, technically. But in the end, it was his Master who determined what he finally said in his great works.
His master was one of the biggest landlords in Scotland. Smith was compelled on pain of losing his contract to write books for universities, to speak about economics in high sounding intellectual tones. But forbidden from revealing what was actually happening in front of his face, of which the landlord was partaking.
Its not this country which is the problem. It is the World. There are no exemptions, no one can escape it. Everyone is in part an Adam Smith doing the work of his master.
But you CAN rise above it.
I have another good friend who left England for Sweden and I don't blame him given that governments of the past 30 years are more interested in delivering national suicide than governing. And entered an islamist ghetto run by suicidally empathic socialists. Unwittingly.
You cannot escape it materially. You have to change the self... somehow. Face your shadow, accept it is there, go right up to it and look hard at it. And rise above it. Call this activity 'the shadow work'. Or meditation, or prayer, a continuous process of self development.
The easiest way is first to accept that what is in front of your face, is 'happening'. In spite of how hard that is to do. If you cannot do that you will be stuck in limbo for eternity and it will be a waste of time trying further. If you can do that first thing, all else is secured for you.
Bitcoin is yet another iteration of monopoly power, fully centralised, with a pantomime masquerade to help people escape from their own complicity in attempting to gain power over others. Everyone. By escaping, you are stopping the shadow work and returning to the deep.
It's remarkable that no one, especially the experts and planet savers have not yet recognised that the enormous power required to run the data centres which build and maintain the blockchain, are not actually required. The fantastically complex cryptographic protocols which run it all are moot. A pantomime masquerade to make it appear like innovative technology saving the world. An escape back into the deep.
It's not that the tech on its own needs so much energy so is harming the planet compared to alternative forms of tech trying to deliver the same sort of benefits. It is that the energy used up is not require at all! It has already been decided who the winners will be. And who will be the losers. The energy used up in the masquerade is entirely wasted to run cover for us and our refusal to observe what is happening, right there, in front of our faces.
Neither is it that the tech is no good. It is a fantastic labour saving device if utilised properly and in its own right free from power. But that is the thing - its totally in the hands of power who already decided who the winners will be. Alas.
In the end, the decision about the production of wealth and who receives its spoils has already been made. Even the inventor of Bitcoin itself - Dr. Craig Wright is oblivious to this observation. Incidentally, this was the last conversation I had with Dr. Wright before he permanently blocked me. Of course!
I have another friend who recently was pleading that he had tried his hardest to help me. My response was that if you keep blaming external actors, you will be self harming. You have to find a way to rise above it all. So it's a mistake to try to help me. It is your first duty to help yourself. Its a higher duty even than helping your own children. For if you cannot help yourself yet, how on earth will you be able to help them?
