| The lesson of the centuries |
And once a threshold has been reached the leaders we elect are bound to be corrupt too.
This observation is extraordinarily difficult for anyone to accept.
Because projecting our own darker side onto this world is such a quick and easy escape route.
This deeper darker side being our own complicity in the corruption, either directly or indirectly by running cover for others doing it for us.
In this duality we call 'society', the congregations on both sides will each be projecting themselves onto the other side. Complaining wildly about how evil they are while proceeding to commit the same evil.
This is not hypocrisy, if we are not conscious of our deeper darker side. It is tribal epistemology - a hard core Obedience to our tribal narrative, which is more important than abstract principles like morals, observing facts, conserving the world and justice etc...
So, once both tribes are fully obedient and in perennial competition with each other for power,
e.g. President Trump is trying to save the West because the narrative believes that is good. And the rest are trying to destroy the West because it thinks that is good. It doesn't matter how bad the people have to be so long as the tribal narrative is perpetuated. You can even kill people who do not agree or rape small children or rob an entire nations charity coffers with impunity, IF, if doing so upholds the narrative. And get away with it. Nay, be widely praised for it.
Who created this world? We did. So it belongs to us, all of it. No one is exempt out of the billions involved directly or indirectly in the crime. We can try to escape from complicity by projecting ourselves onto the other tribe by using national level propaganda and politics. But this is just theatre in our imaginations, at scale. We are still guilty as charged. There is no escape in actuality, it is still all there.
And once a threshold has been reached the leaders we elect are bound to be corrupt too. What else could they be but corrupt. They still have to answer to our demands, otherwise we will not allow them to stand.
There has only ever been The One who was not one of the billions of corrupt people.
