Where there was plenty of food for everyone. Where wealth was being produced in such enormous amounts that nobody will ever go without ever again.
Imagine a world where there's no fear necessary any more about people who live in distant lands. Because we now know everybody in this world. There are no strangers.
How do you think the people in that kind of world will behave?
I suggest you take a look around you right now.
I'm not having a go at the whole world in its current crazy state.
I am saying that the world needs existential crisis to give it meaning.
And without meaning the people start behaving very strangely.
Or to mitigate, we create, out of thin air, another existential crisis, to restore 'meaning'.
A world without meaning is a very scary place for everyone to live in.
This is not to say that a world without meaning is better or worse.
It is to say that it has never been tried yet.
That is to say, while this cannot be achieved yet, perhaps its better to create fake crises, with all the harm that inevitably brings.
The cause and effect will still be the better alternative, than the risk of stepping over the frontier and into the forbidden zone, not knowing where that will take us.
Yes, It might take us to heaven.
