If you've always found yourself wrapped up in endless criticism of 'others' out there in the world yet have suddenly realised these 'others' cannot be to blame, and deserve compassion, the following may be one idea you can test on yourself.
How Do I Work With My Newly Discovered Projections?
There is a therapeutic framework designed to help you take back the energy you have scattered onto the outer world and direct it internally onto the shared exile we all must live with. Here is a specific, multi-step process to help you dissolve projections. It cannot be taught. This is how I will do it. You might find a a better:
[1. Notice the Charge] ➔ [2. Trace the Hook] ➔ [3. Withdraw the Object] ➔ [4. Integrate the Energy] ➔ [5. Repeat as you start remembering the exile is root cause]
Step 1: Notice the "Emotional Charge"
You can always spot a projection because your emotional reaction to an outer event is completely disproportionate. If an issue (like climate change, a political figure, or a conspiracy theory) makes you feel obsessive, furious, or utterly despairing, you are witnessing a projection. This is a significant action because you have stepped outside of yourself and started to observe what is happening. The projection spell has been broken and you can now ‘see’. The outer event is just a movie screen; your unconscious mind is the projector.
Step 2: Trace the "Hook"
A projection requires a physical "hook" to hang on. You cannot project your inner fear of decay onto a perfectly healthy, unchanging object. You project it onto a conspiracy theory because something in the world is very wrong. But do not have the language to describe it to yourself. Look at the hook and ask: “What specific quality of this outer problem matches the unacknowledged part of my inner self?” (e.g., "The world is full of shitty people destroying me" matches "My soul feels trapped and unsafe").
Step 3: Consciously Withdraw the Object
This is the hardest part. You must tell yourself: “The outer world is not causing the depth of this agony. The outer world is simply triggering an ancient, internal reality.” You intentionally stop feeding the outer topic with your words, arguments, and obsessive tracking. You cut off the energy supply to the projection screen. Simply put: stop banging on about a cabal of wealth and power, the freemasons or the jews. Even if they exist, the projections block your chance of personal transformation delivering a worse outcome than you have already.
Step 4: Integrate the Energy
Once the energy is pulled back, it returns to your interior world as raw, potent emotion. Do not run away from this uncomfortable feeling. Instead, sit with the anxiety, the guilt, or the homesickness, now you have it in your hand and are certain of the source.
Have dialogue with the feeling. Treat the anxiety as a character or a guide. Ask it: "What do you actually want from me?"
Usually, the anxiety will reveal that it doesn't want you to fix the evil cabal; it wants you to nurture your inner life, express your creativity, and remember your spiritual sovereignty.
Step 5: Repeat as you start remembering the exile is root cause
How you practice this is a matter for you to discover. Your method cannot be taught you be someone else. Keep looking and you will find it.
Some people call it prayer. Others meditation. Yet others regular rituals like eating and drinking together. I do not call it these things.
This is not like riding a bike. You will forget quickly if you don't keep practicing. You do not suddenly find salvation and then its a cake walk. Keep going.
